Playlist

I love awesome music.  At work, we were listening to a CD. (I know, know, who listens to CD's anymore?) I have no idea what band it was, but it was HORRIBLE! I looked at the other CD's that we had and we only had two other CD's that were worth listening to and they were both Led Zeppelin albums. Well the rest of the day was much better. Today, I was thinking of all of the other music I love. I have created an awesome playlist. Now, this playlist is just for my mood right now, but I can always create another playlist with different songs. 1. When the Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin ;  This song is just so amazing. It has a great build-up. 2.   Body Movin'  by Beastie Boys:  This is a great song to dance to. 3. Fall in a River  by Badly Drawn Boy:  This song is short, but so cool. 4. Good Day Sunshine  by The Beatles : This is a classic. 5.   Landslide Man by Fleetwood Mac:  I love this song. It is also a classic. 6. The Distance by Cake:  This is a perfec

Learning

For a lot of people, school is starting soon, or has already started. Some people love school, and others loathe it. I love it mainly because I love to learn. I found a quote about learning. "Anyone who stops learning is old, whether this happens at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps on learning not only remains young, but becomes constantly more valuable regardless of physical capacity."  - Harvey Ullman  I think this is really interesting. Even if you are not in school, we should still continue to learn. The thing about learning on your own is you can explore anything you want. You can go at your own pace. If you find something that interests you learning can be fun. I enjoy learning about gardening, history, and many other things. One website that is really cool is Khan Academy. They have lots of videos and articles that you can read. I recommend it, no matter how old you are. Going back to the quote, if we learn we are valuable. Knowledge is amazing.

Work and Play

Image
Lately I have been thinking about work and play. I think both are important. This actually reminds me of a poem. Work M. A. Stodart Work while you work, Play while you play; This is the way To be happy each day. All that you do, Do with your might; Things done by halves Are never done right. I love this poem. It is short, but so true. When we are working, just work. Don't do half of the job.  I have a job at a garden shop. I just water plants and do other little jobs, but I really enjoy it. I like how I can get sweaty and tired. It makes me feel like I was working hard. I also think it is interesting how  M. A. Stodart (the poet) mentioned play. Play (in my opinion) is just as important as work. There needs to be balance though. Everyone can have different ways to play or have fun. For me, I find reading, crafts, and hiking fun. I think if we have a good balance of work and play, we can be happy. What do you do for fun?

Clyde Miller

Image
This is Clyde Miller. Yes, he is a dog, and yes he has an awesome name. I am not sure what kind of dog he is. He has some shih-tzu and yorkie and we think also some poodle. Isn't he cute?!? When he lies down he looks like those AT-AT walkers from Star Wars. He is small. He has more fluff than muscle. He looks hilarious in a cone. But, let's be honest, every dog looks funny in a cone of shame. Now, you may be wondering, why the heck is this lady writing about a dog? My answer: because I felt like it. I love Clyde Miller. He is such a doofus. He acts more like a cat than a dog.  He hates swimming, he sleeps most of the day, and hates other dogs. Some may say that that is wrong for a dog, but we like it that way. Most people have a pet they love. Well, Clyde Miller is my favorite pet. Also he doesn't shed so that is a plus. Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save Save

Book Review: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Image
Enjoyment: 10/10 Genre: Historical Fiction This book does have some swearing in it. I really loved this book. It is placed during World War 2 in Nazi Germany. It is written from Death's point of view, which makes it really interesting. It focuses on a girl named Liesel Meminger. She steals books even though she should be burning them.  I won't write too much more, or I will give the story away! This book is really good. It is kind of long, but it never gets boring. It is interesting and a bit sad. 10/10, highly recommend.

My New Favorite Movies

I recently watched the movies, Back to the Future and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I have decided that both are my new favorite movies. Why? Because they are awesome. Now, there are lots of other really good movies. These are just ones that I have watched recently. Here are some reasons why I like these two movies: Back to the Future: Doc Brown is hilarious. What is a jigawatt anyways? You don't know what will happen next (that is unless some jerk told you how it ends) It is entertaining. There is humor and action. Wouldn't you want to go back in time? Ferris Bueller's Day Off: This movie is just so funny. (You may think that is not enough reasons, but it is.) If you have not watched these movies, please go and see them.

My "Gift"

If you know me, you probably know that I am a total klutz. I trip over just about anything and I always spill stuff on my shirt.  Well, I can be careful, but that is only when I am trying really hard. I also have been klutzy for as long as I can remember. My mom told me that when I was about six or seven I fell out of a chair. I was just sitting in it doing nothing and fell out. Now that takes skill. I have decided that being a klutz is my gift or superpower if you will. I can fall up the stairs. I can trip over nothing . I can stub my toe so hard that it will turn white from the wall paint. You get the picture, I am extremely talented. The only disadvantage with this gift of mine, is that is sometimes hard on me. I will often have cuts and bruises that I have no clue on how I got them. But, it is still my gift.

The Best (or worst) Face Paint

Image
Yesterday I let my friend paint my face. I am still not sure if it was the awesomest or the most hideous thing. Oh well... Everyone sure had a good laugh. I was laughing so hard when this picture was taken. I also realized how weird ladies look with facial hair (painted or real).  This girl was very particular with what she wanted. She asked for an orange jumping cat on her forehead. Anytime she moved her eyebrows, the cat would move. One kid asked me to paint his face like a skeleton. He said a light blue skeleton. Only light blue. As I was painting his face he clarified that I didn't need to paint his eyes because they were already blue. :) Adding on to the post from yesterday, I also like popping and blowing bubbles during summer. Even if they are for kids.

Intro and Summer

Image
Because this blog is so new, I wanted to do a little introduction. The purpose of this blog is purely fun. I wanted to start a blog so I did. There is not a specific theme to this blog, I will just write what I feel like writing. I love pictures so there will be a good amount of pictures. Now, summer is my favorite time of the year. This is why: Road trips Watermelon  Fireworks are a must. Roller Coasters  Flowers Swimming  Pretty sunsets Also, don't forget riding bikes, reading, and movies. Did I miss anything?(I probably did)
Welcome to my blog: For Anne's Sake (read this blog). Why did I choose that name? People are always saying "for pete's sake", but my name is not Pete, it's Anne.  Oh for Anne's sake! I think it has a nice ring to it, but maybe that is just me. Also, for my sake, please read my blog. I will be adding more posts soon.
